How do our assumptions shape the way we communicate in conversations?

I’ve realized that it’s crucial to examine the assumptions we carry into any interaction. We often enter conversations with a set of expectations about what will be discussed, and those expectations can make it harder to truly hear the other person’s perspective. Creating room to surface and talk through the assumptions each person brings helps ensure that both sides share a common starting point and can work toward a more productive, collaborative exchange.
